The Role
As a Senior European Operator, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing road freight operations across Europe.
- Working with clients, carriers and internal teams, your leadership and expertise will ensure the smooth and cost-efficient movement of goods while upholding our commitment to exceptional service quality.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as their primary point of contact.
- Be ultimately responsible for the Profit/Loss of the service.
- Lead and mentor a team of road freight operators, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback β hold regular catch ups, reviews and annual appraisal with each of your team members.
- Ensure the team is well-equipped to meet client needs and operational objectives.
- Develop relationships with new and existing agents/partners/suppliers, lead Teams calls and record minutes/actions.
- Take ownership of customer complaints, gather facts, action and deliver satisfactory response to customer/agent.
- Collaborate with various departments to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Build strong relationships with other offices by offering support with groupage departures and ensuring to work with the wider business in mind.
- Strategic planning to benefit the long-term business plans β considering bigger picture outside of immediate responsibilities.
- Keep up to date with monthly market figures where necessary reporting trends, upturns and downturns for responsible markets
- Assist and provide cover in other areas of the operations team as required.
- Ensure that geographic knowledge is updated frequently to enable efficient and effective use of transport.
- Provide complete manifests, loading lists or delivery paperwork for use by transport, warehouse staff and external teams where required.
- Show office positivity around company decisions (improving negativity)
- Understand client needs, providing customized logistics solutions, and ensuring overall client satisfaction.
- Actively support and advocate change management within the business including the change of working processes and company decisions.
- Monitor shipments in real-time and proactively address any issues or delays.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competition.
- Ability to plan a European Groupage Trailer.
The Ideal Candidate
- Substantial experience in road freight forwarding operations across Europe.
- Profound knowledge of European transportation regulations, customs procedures, and market trends.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in relevant logistics and supply chain management software.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to consolidate cargo in the UK, with a good understanding on how to maximise their trailer payloads.
- Good communication skills and high level of customer service.
- Ability to develop and manage a small team.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to plan loads and have had experience with using weights/cubes.

- Minimum 12 months commercial experience within a product integration role
- Freight industry experience not necessary but advantageous
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
